You will be creating, enhancing, and troubleshooting critical systems, software libraries, and trading tools that are actively making a profit on real stock exchanges. You will be able to see the impact your actions have on the firm.
In this fast-paced environment, you will learn a great deal about the following:
Complex, multithreaded systems
Network communications in distributed systems
Trading strategy
Financial terms and the workings of financial markets
What do you need to know to join us? We are looking for people who have:
Java or C++ experience
Linux / UNIX experience
Good communication skills
Life at Allston
It is a serious business, with trillions of dollars a month in transactions, but we have fun, too. We celebrate our record weeks with Champagne after the markets close.
We wear Hawaiian shirts on Fridays, at least in summer. And we get shoulder massages at our desks on Wednesdays.
We work sane hours, 40-45 per week, because we don't want to burn people out.
We keep you fed, providing a catered breakfast and lunch daily, and free juice and soft drinks at all times.
We also have social events ranging from paintball to Chicago Symphony concerts.
Interns and co-ops have special benefits:
Housing paid in full for out-of-town interns. This includes
Health club membership for the summer
Fully furnished (includes cable TV and complete kitchen set)
Free weekly housekeeping, bedding, and towels
Social events specifically for interns, such as Blue Man Group, Chicago Cubs game, and Navy Pier.
A mentoring program which lets you get to know a full time employee who will help you out, show you around, and provide valuable performance feedback.
